Kenneth J. Berke represents the firm's institutional and individual clients in environmental, business, corporate, franchising and real estate matters. Mr. Berke's prior experience in a major international law firm, and as in-house counsel to a Fortune 100 Company, gives him a client's business perspective that enables him to accomplish the client's goals in an efficient, cost-effective manner. As the firm's managing partner, Mr. Berke represents clients in numerous business matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, financing, venture start-ups, licensing, warehousing and distribution deals. Mr. Berke has also advises clients on corporate/LLC formations, internet ventures, labor and human resources issues, intellectual property, trademark, and copyright matters. In addition, Mr. Berke specializes in all aspects of environmental compliance and risk allocation, including remediation projects, toxic tort cases, due diligence, and regulatory compliance, in addition to the acquisition, sale, construction, and leasing of real property. Norman Kent, who is semi-retired, represents the firm’s clients in business contingency litigation matters. Mr. Kent, as a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 40 years of experience as an attorney, knows how to secure favorable settlements, and failing settlement, will aggressively try even the most complicated cases. The key to a favorable settlement is the willingness and ability to go to trial. Mr. Kent brings both to the table, which greatly enhances the settlements the firm secures for its clients. Ted S. Ward represents institutional and individual clients in a variety of intellectual property, commercial and real estate litigation matters. Mr. Ward has extensive federal and state court trial experience, and has handled a wide range of intellectual property and complex commercial cases, including patent, copyright, trade secrets, trademark, contract, media, securities, and mergers and acquisitions cases. Mr. Ward has represented manufacturers, telecommunications and high tech companies in patent matters and contract disputes; international banks in disputes arising from mergers and acquisitions they financed; factoring companies in secured transaction disputes; movie studios in international licensing and copyright disputes; and dot com companies in a broad spectrum of matters. Mr. Ward also was responsible for maintaining the film rights on behalf of a prominent motion picture legend. Prior to opening his former law firm (Ward, Stark & Harrison LLP), Mr. Ward was associated with and of counsel to major California and international law firms, where he represented and tried cases on behalf of Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Ward left the larger law firms in response to requests by his clients for more cost-effective litigation representation. Mr. Ward was admitted to the bar in the State of California in 1989. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California. Mr. Ward received a bachelor of science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his juris doctor from the University of California at Los Angeles. |
